Get to know Nekiyah

It is truly beautiful to understand the inner working of our minds. I view it as my role to support you in recognising your own brilliance and to help you discover the unconscious beliefs and stories that can shift your reality.

Seeing my clients emerge from unconscious patterns to a place of choice is really what I’m most passionate about – it’s about putting you back into the driver’s seat.

I live for the “light bulb” moments in therapy – some of those moments are subtle shifts in a client’s life whilst others are quantum leaps.

“”Every adversity, every failure and heartache carries with it the seed of an equivalent or a greater benefit”
― Napoleon Hill

I primarily use Psychoeducation, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Narrative Therapy. I’ve seen these therapeutic modalities significantly shift the perspectives and identities my clients have held for themselves, allowing them to bring their lives in line with their values.

One thing I enjoy filling my time with is listening to podcasts and documentaries of spiritual teachers – Wayne Dyer, Neale Donald Walsch and Byron Katie. I find it so fascinating to hear the intimate stories of how they got to where they are now; the adversities they struggled with are very relatable to most human experiences and the wisdom we form from challenges.

Being exposed to travel at a young age and immersing myself amongst many cultures really supported me in understanding the beauty and difference of values between the east and west. I remember traveling to Asia early in life and seeing a reverence for ritual and tribe and this really stuck with me once I returned to Australia.

Nekiyah: “Understand Your Lens”

Know that perspective is everything.

Especially when things seem out of our control, when we begin to change our internal environment, how we see the external automatically shifts.

Outside The Therapy Room…

Recently, I’ve been watching a tv show called “This is Us.” A really beautiful, heartfelt show following genuine stories with relatable character struggles and triumphs.
