Get to know Oliver

I view the human journey as one of continuous self-discovery, where we each navigate our own path, often encountering pain, confusion, and self-doubt. I help you reconnect with your authentic self by guiding you through the unresolved conflicts and emotional patterns that shape your current behaviours and relationships. Through this process, you can uncover new meaning in your past experiences and achieve true personal growth

My approach is grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy, which focuses on exploring the emotional undercurrents that influence our actions and relationships. By creating a space for non-judgmental exploration of feelings and past experiences, I help my clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves, fostering emotional balance and a greater sense of authenticity. This reflective process allows for healing from unresolved conflicts and paves the way for personal empowerment.

“The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.”
– Carl Jung
Practitioner Room

Before becoming a psychologist, I travelled the world, seeking meaning and experiences. In Nepal, I witnessed something that deeply shifted my perspective. At a Buddhist temple, I struggled with exhaustion, facing 3,000 uneven steps. Then, I saw a man without limbs, pulling himself up the same steps, determined to reach the top. His resilience stunned me, silencing my complaints.

It was a profound reminder of inner strength and the limits we place on ourselves. That moment became a touchstone for my work in psychology, teaching me that human potential often far exceeds perceived limitations.

With over 15 years of experience in psychological science, I have developed a deep ongoing understanding of the human psyche through work in diverse settings, including community, organisational, educational, and hospital environments.

This wide-ranging experience has honed my ability to listen deeply and empathise with individuals, allowing me to tailor my therapeutic approach to each client’s unique needs and challenges.

Oliver on Psychodynamic Therapy

My primary modality in the therapy room is psychodynamic therapy.

In psychodynamic therapy, expect to explore your unconscious mind, focusing on past experiences, unresolved conflicts, and how they influence your current behaviours and emotions. Sessions often involve free association, where you’ll share thoughts and feelings openly, even if they seem unrelated.

The unconscious material may point out patterns in your relationships and emotional responses, helping you to gain insight. Therapy can bring up strong emotions as hidden thoughts and feelings surface, but this is a key part of the healing process. Over time, expect greater self-awareness, emotional clarity, and improved relationships as you work through underlying issues.

Outside The Therapy Room…

My current thing is completing my book. This project holds deep personal and professional significance to me, and channeling my energy into it aligns with my long-term goals of contributing to psychological knowledge and practice.

And Yin Yoga. There are no words that I can describe for how fulfilling this is for me. Holding poses for extended periods, promotes physical release, emotional balance, and a deeper connection to self, offering a restorative practice that supports my mental and emotional well-being.
