I feel grateful to be part of another person’s intimate journey of becoming. I enjoy working in a collaborative and client-led manner with both individuals and couples from different cultural backgrounds and life experiences.
I come from a clinical/research background, so I strive to blend evidence-based practice with the context of what you are going through.
My experience lies in the areas of coping with anxiety, depression, adjustment to changes and stressors in life as well as relationship difficulties.
I am a trauma-informed and LGBTQ+ aware therapist in addition to diversifying myself in the area of supporting executives with workplace burnout and young women with prenatal and postnatal support.
I take an eclectic approach to therapy which is led by you, your experiences in life and your goals.
I use modalities like Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Behavior Therapy (SFBT) to help you build helpful thinking styles and solutions to problems you may be facing.
For those looking to engage in more long-term work, we get an opportunity to explore the deeper beliefs and narratives that you’ve built over time. Here, I use therapeutic modalities like Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Schema Therapy in addition to CBT.
These approaches help clients gain greater insight into their patterns, habits and decision making processes as well as greater understanding of their triggers.
If you’re looking to feel better about your life long-term, we typically have to unlearn unhelpful thinking styles and dysfunctional patterns – and learn helpful ways of thinking and acting.
Deepika On Life:
I relocated from India to Australia about 3 years ago – in the midst of the pandemic – giving up on everything that I knew to be familiar, safe and predictable. I realised that I needed to take a leap of faith – counting on me to rediscover myself and the possibilities that life holds.
This experience helped me connect with clients who also face life transitions – planned or unplanned and I am able to lean into my personal experience of change and resilience.
