About Mary Hoang
Mary Hoang is the Founder of The Indigo Project, an Australian online therapy practice renowned for its progressive and creative approaches to mental health. Mary obtained her bachelor's degree in Psychology (honours) from the University of New South Wales in 2004 and founded Indigo in 2012. A published author, her book 'Darkness Is Golden' was released in 2021 via Pantera Press and Audible. Mary has emerged as a leader in the humanisation and transformation of the mental health sector. After her father's death in 2017, Mary turned to art and writing to explore the darker aspects of life; anxieties, fears, insecurities, loss, emotional pain and 'baggage' and how these hold the keys to insight, meaning and purpose. As an artist, Mary partners with Rich Lucano to present installations that sit at the intersection of psychology and sound. These works informed groundbreaking research by the University of Melbourne and James Cook University, on the relationship between music and mental health, led by Dr Amanda Krause. Mary has presented at the likes of The Sydney Opera House, Vivid Sydney, The Art Gallery of NSW and Perth Arena.
