We’re here to help you find your wisdom, and a way forward.
Hi!
Welcome to the Indigo Project! We know it takes a lot of courage to take that first step and book your first appointment with a therapist, so congratulations on kicking things off and for committing to your mental health journey.
The main question we get asked by our clients is “what can I expect from my first session?”, we want you to feel prepared so we’ve got the low down.
This will also be your chance to ask them questions, so don’t be shy! We’re sure you have a million questions bubbling away in there so here’s a few commonly asked questions that will start you off on the right track:
- How often should I be attending sessions? (This is also when to share what feels sustainable for you!)
- How does my therapist like to approach sessions together, and what does my journey with them look like?
- Is there anything I can do outside of my appointments that my therapist feels could be of benefit?
Here’s some important information in regards to housekeeping:
If you are seeing a Psychologist, provided you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan, you can submit claims to Medicare and receive a rebate for your sessions.
All online therapy services are delivered via a telehealth platform called HealthDirect Video Call. View this guide to ensure you’re setup before your session.
Finally, there’s a few bits and pieces we need from you prior to your first session. Please let us know if you have any issues:
Prepayment – this is required to secure your first appointment. Then it’s ‘Pay As You Go’ for any sessions that follow!
Consent to Service – in order for our therapists to provide our services to you, we require your informed consent.
Intake Form – your details will mean you’re properly matched on our system and we can add things like your emergency contact, your GPs details (if applicable), and more.
Cancellation Policy – this is important as it lays out some of our terms in regards to our bookings.
In the meantime, here’s a Spotify playlist we’ve created for you, full of tunes that help ease our anxiety through the day:
