Hi, I'm Alinta.

I am passionate about helping others when they are feeling their most vulnerable, when things are feeling all too much and when they just need someone to sit with them and truly hear what they have to say.

I work across the lifespan and have a special interest in working with young people and older adults, whether they are experiencing situational distress, seeking diagnosis, or just wanting support with navigating life’s complexities.

Additionally, I have a comprehensive background in trauma and PTSD, and I work well with clients who need a trauma-informed and gentle approach to therapy.

My personal experience of dealing with complex chronic health conditions, including chronic pain, has been the biggest superpower in being able to relate to my clients’ experiences, their sense of hopelessness and distrust in systematic hoops. This enables me to share to authentically share vulnerably with clients, when appropriate, which I have found strengthens the therapeutic relationship.

More from me...

Alinta’s anxiety tip...

My personal favourite is the “Thought Train” where I encourage clients to visualise being on a physical train when experiencing anxiety or a spiral of thought, and then stepping off the train at the next station and onto an open platform. This is a fun way to normalise that everyone experiences anxiety at certain points, but that we can have some control over our thoughts and response to that anxiety.

When I’m not in therapy…

I live on a small rural island in Northern Queensland, and spend my free time walking along the beach, going fishing with my partner, and bird watching. I’m love taking photos of critters on my walks and adventures. I also love reading historical wartime stories.
