Transience: A Ceremony For Past Relationships
Let go of your relationship baggage with this unique experience for Vivid Art After Hours at Art Gallery of NSW.
We are thrilled to announce that we've created a unique experience for Vivid Sydney & Art Gallery of NSW as part of Vivid Art After Hours.
Transience: A Ceremony For Past Relationships is a powerful 20 minute experience held in the Contemporary Galleries of AGNSW. Participants will partake in a modern day ritual, with the opportunity to symbolically release a person or situation that no longer serves them. Whether it be an ex, an old friendship, or an incident that has caused pain, we invite you to begin to process the past with this one-off ceremony by our founder and head psychologist, Mary Hoang.
The experience forms part of the May 30 Vivid Art After Hours event, Let’s Talk About Death, It Won’t Kill You. The night will also feature music by Goldheist, a conversation between Kerrie Noonan (The GroundSwell Project) and our founder Mary Hoang, inspiring us to move beyond clinical attitudes towards death, and a guided tour exploring how art can help us express some of the difficult emotions we struggle to discuss openly.
“Grief encompasses so much more than the loss of life. We are all experiencing the cycles of life and death across many aspects of our lives; the evolution of our attitudes, emotions, friendships and relationships. Letting go is important - but it's hard. How do we deal with the baggage that we carry around every day, without knowledge of the rituals and tools to support change in our lives? Transience explores this process of letting go”.
- Mary Hoang (Founder & Head Psychologist of The Indigo Project)
“Vivid Ideas is thrilled to be working with the Indigo Project on a series of events that tackle the big topics in life – death, sex and politics. These are the topics that we are told it is impolite to broach however these are the conversations that lead to be a better informed and compassionate society."
- Tory Loudon (Curator of Ideas, Vivid Sydney)
Transience will run via three, twenty minute sessions at 7:30pm, 8pm and 8:30pm in the Contemporary Galleries, Art Gallery of NSW.
The Vivid After Hours Wed June 6 event will feature Lenore Taylor (Editor, The Guardian) and social researcher Rebecca Huntley discussing whether it is possible to find common ground on hot button topics amongst diverse Australians and how to move beyond your own “filter bubble”. The Wed June 13 event will featuring Vice Media’s Wendy Syfret and The Indigo Project’s Georgia Grace (Sex educator / intimacy coach) exploring the intersection of technology, sex and pleasure.
