When we talk about establishing connection what are we really talking about? What have we lost, and where did it go?
What are we missing in our lives that makes us feel as though we struggle to establish a connection with others? When we look at establishing connection we are really talking about a connection with self that seems to have fallen by the wayside. For us to connect with another we must first and foremost have connection with ourselves. At this point in time, it is very prevalent that we as a collective are feeling disconnected from each other. We need to re-establish that connection with ourselves and each other.
Upon establishing connection with oneself, one must be open to the concept that everyone and everything external of us, is a mirror, a mirror for us to see ourselves. Gone are the days of blaming another for how we feel, or a situation being the reason for our downfall. We are in the time of self responsibility and acknowledging all of ourselves and whatever lesson that brings. We need to have experienced our past selves and who we don’t want to be in order to know who we do want to be. Walking through the mud so we will know how it feels to be free of the mud. Because without having the experience of both, there would be no contrast and no awareness.
A few words I wrote on establishing connection with self and therefore others:
Remember in every situation you always have choice, And usually that choice will come down to acceptance.
When an experience/emotion is accepted it goes into the love box, when an experience/emotion is not accepted it goes into the hate box.
It is all about coming back to the experience and feeling through the lens to accept what is ready to be accepted, to be liberated.
Nothing in this world is happening to hurt us, everything is showing us something. It’s just that sometimes we forget how to use the tools to see it.
The best way to start is with the breath….close your eyes and bring awareness and connect to the breath.
Inhale new life, new love, new experience, Exhale old life, old love, old experience.
And remember to enjoy every single breath you take, it’s the single most powerful thing in this universe for without it you wouldn’t be here.
The journey to establishing connection begins with you first and foremost. And through establishing connection with ourselves, it will then open up the doors for more open and free connection with others.
Head down to our Monday workshop on “Establishing Connection”, as part of our new relationship series, and learn how to connect with yourself and others. We will explore different barriers to connecting and learn how to open up to both ourselves and others. Regain that spark with yourself, and feel it again with other people in a meaningful way that will last longer than the ‘honeymoon period’.
