MINDFULNESS FOR AUTHENTICITY
Are you living your life according to your rules or someone else’s? Our lives are busy – between work, family, going to the gym, catching up with friends and sleep, there’s not too much time to reflect upon our lives or even, get to know ourselves. The risk? Not understanding who we are and what’s important to us, so we inevitably make decisions not based on who we are but on who we think we are. That’s where mindfulness can step in and help us out.
Mindfulness provides breathing space. It allows us to take a step back from self-directed judgements and observe our thoughts, feelings and values to determine whether we’re moving towards the person we want to be or away. By developing a daily mindfulness practice, we can come to recognise the recursive thought patterns that hold us back and instead, pave a way forward that’s aligned with who we truly are.
